Sorry dentist

I had never paid attention to L'Officiel magazine before that visit to the dentist years ago where while waiting for my wisdom teeth to be pulled out, I flipped through the september issue, stopped to this editorial and quietly put the mag in my bag. Ok, I stole it.

I had never done it before. Maybe it was this nerve wracking operation awaiting me or maybe I was long time due for some transgression, anyway I had to have it just for the sake of these pics.

Several years later, I find the styling of this ed to be still the classic urban look at its best.

All the pieces featured are popular items, the leather, plaid, tweed jacket, jeans, sneakers, wedge boots. I have most in my closet and the clothes associations shown are easy.

So why the fascination?

Maybe just because of that simplicity. Most of the eds I like are in the same vein. It's always the quiet classic styling my eyes are drawn up to and which actually make me purchase the magazines.

Surprisingly, I find them so much more inspiring than some over the top ed, piling up of the must-have clothes and accessories of the season, shot in a fantastic location.

As much as I like editorials that present the dream, it's nice to come back down to Earth. I often thought Vogue Paris was good inspiration for "real life" clothes.

If my dentist had these kind of magazines, I'd steal them too!!! lol! Too bad they only have cosmo... ewww!

I used to buy L'Officiel all the time, before tFS and other blogs started posting the eds online.

I too prefer these kinds of eds. I think that's why I was never a big fan of US Vogue - it's like, yeah, beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown but where am I going in that? Maybe the problem is my life is not glamorous enough, lol.

In other news, I am long due for a dentist visit. Ugh.

I can understand why you took it - I love the looks - perfectly classic and unstuffy.

Prêt: I used to buy lots of magazines as a teen in the late 90's and a "tween" in early 00's and dream of the beautiful editorials. I was such a fan of models, knew all their names and now it's quite the opposite!
I can spend months without buying a new mag thanks to the internet and blogs but also my interest has gone south for some publications like Vogue Paris actually. Last I've checked the kind of women (Charlotte Casiraghi, Lara Stone etc.) featured and their aesthetic don't appeal to me at all.
It's funny because I love the style of the VP team but the mag not so much.

Emmy: Cosmo is the worst I agree! The French version is more tamed than the UK or US but nit great either.
Sadly I think the dentist who used to let her old L'Officiels must have left. Last time I was there, only tabloids were left... I was able to catch up with all the latest French gossips!

Same Koko! My magazines budget has decreased a lot thanks to the same sources! Really sometimes I wonder who's the target of some magazines. ODLR gowns are candy to the eyes but I like some real clothes too.

t and Lin:Couldn't agree more with you !
